Seoul, South Korea – Hana Bank has emerged as the most sought-after financial institution for retirement pension products among South Korea's six largest commercial banks over the past two months, according to a recent big data analysis by Data & Research. KB Kookmin Bank and Shinhan Bank followed closely behind.
The analysis, which covered 230,000 websites across 12 channels including news, communities, cafes, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, KakaoStory, and knowledge Q&A platforms, examined online discussions related to retirement pensions at the six major banks from October to November 2024.
The banks included in the study were Hana Bank, KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, NH Nonghyup Bank, Woori Bank, and IBK Industrial Bank, selected based on the volume of related information.
The analysis revealed that Hana Bank generated a total of 2,006 posts, significantly outpacing its competitors. A blogger who recently restructured their portfolio in Hana Bank's defined contribution (DC) retirement pension noted the addition of ETFs tracking various indices, including the Nasdaq and India, and reported a satisfactory return of 19.69% on their initial investment.
KB Kookmin Bank secured the second spot with 1,422 related posts, largely driven by interest in its retirement pension transfer events and ETF investment strategies. Shinhan Bank followed with 1,057 posts, highlighting its simplified IRP account opening process.
The overall volume of retirement pension-related posts across the six banks surged by 141.19% compared to the same period last year, reflecting growing public concern about securing stable retirement funds amid uncertain economic conditions.
