The '2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo' has successfully passed a critical milestone towards its successful hosting. Nonsan City, led by Mayor Baek Seong-hyeon, announced on March 12th that it has been designated as a review target for international events by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, laying the groundwork for its advancement as a global hub for the strawberry industry.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance's review targets for international events are selected after evaluating the feasibility and economic impact of the events. Upon completion of a research service by the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP), the expo is expected to receive final approval in July, which will allow for full-scale preparations with government support.
The '2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo', jointly promoted by Nonsan City and South Chungcheong Province, aims to create new value for the K-Strawberry industry, centered on Nonsan strawberries, which represent South Korea, and to establish a platform for international exchange and cooperation through the expansion of the global market.
To ensure the success of the '2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo', the city has been actively working to promote the quality and value of Nonsan strawberries and agricultural products worldwide and to build collaborative networks through events such as the 'Nonsan Agricultural Food Overseas Expo', 'K-Food Purchasing Consultations', and the 'Asian Korean Businessmen's Convention'.
The '2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo' is an international event that encompasses the entire strawberry industry, from primary (production) to tertiary (processing, experience, tourism) sectors. It aims to showcase the new future value of the entire strawberry industry in connection with future agricultural technologies such as smart agriculture, agritech, and food tech.
