The Peruvian Ministry of Education has released the final results for the 2024 Unified Admission Process to the Colegios de Alto Rendimiento (COAR), revealing a diverse cohort of exceptional students from across the nation. Out of the 2,634 available vacancies, 53% were awarded to female students, showcasing a significant stride towards gender parity in advanced education.

Further emphasizing inclusivity, 51% of the admitted students come from households classified as living in poverty or extreme poverty, according to the Midis Household Targeting System (SISFOH). This underscores the COAR's commitment to providing equal opportunities for talented students regardless of their socioeconomic background.

Top Achievers Hailed from Diverse Regions

The top-performing student hails from El Tambo district in the central Andean region of Junín. The second-highest score was achieved by a student from Cabana district in the southern region of Puno, while the third position was secured by a student from Madrigal district in the southern region of Arequipa. This distribution of top achievers across various regions highlights the widespread availability of exceptional talent throughout Peru.

COAR's Holistic Educational Approach

Minister of Education Morgan Quero emphasized that the COAR network, present in all regions of Peru, offers a comprehensive educational experience for students in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades of secondary school. The curriculum is designed to foster not only academic excellence but also personal, artistic, and athletic development.

A key feature of the COAR program is its integration of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program into the National Curriculum of Basic Education. This dual approach provides students with a rigorous academic foundation and opens doors to over 2,000 national and international universities.

Pact for Educational Advancement

Minister Quero highlighted that the COAR initiative aligns with the "Social Pact for Education," a cornerstone of his administration's efforts to enhance public education quality. The goal is to cultivate a generation of leaders capable of driving local, regional, and national progress.

Vacancy Confirmation and Reassignment

Parents of admitted students have until March 31 to confirm their child's acceptance. In the event of a vacancy arising from a student's withdrawal, the spot will be offered to the next highest-scoring applicant from the waiting list.
