Seoul, South Korea – Hyundai Engineering & Construction (HEC) has announced that it will be the first construction company in Korea to commercialize an autonomous delivery robot service, marking a significant step towards creating robot-friendly future residential complexes.

The company has developed a comprehensive indoor-outdoor autonomous delivery robot service in collaboration with Mobinn, a Hyundai Motor Group startup. This innovative service will be first implemented in the 'Die H Daechi Edelrui' complex, scheduled for completion in June, and will gradually expand to other residential complexes.

A key feature of this autonomous delivery service is its ability to operate seamlessly from the road to the apartment door, including elevators. It is the first of its kind in Korea to be integrated with wireless communication and control systems and equipped with an unmanned elevator boarding function.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction successfully demonstrated the autonomous delivery robot service last year with residents of the 'Hillstate Ra Piano Samsong' townhouses. Earlier this year, the company signed a business agreement with Hyundai Elevator to commercialize the service by applying intelligent technology.

The upgraded technology includes various intelligent functions such as automatic elevator calling, re-calling in case of destination floor cancellation, and capacity judgment. These features enable the robot to make independent decisions in a variety of situations.

In addition, the autonomous delivery robot developed by Mobinn can be used for various purposes such as package and food delivery, and patrol. Its specially developed rubber tire structure allows it to easily overcome obstacles like stairs, and the horizontal maintenance function of the cargo bed ensures the safety of the load. Equipped with 3D LiDAR and cameras, the robot can recognize surrounding terrain and objects and make comprehensive judgments about the situation. It also has an idle time patrol mode function, enabling autonomous driving specifically for pedestrian safety.

Hyundai Engineering & Construction has proposed applying the 'autonomous D2D delivery robot service' to the Hannam 4 Redevelopment Project in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, to create a robot-friendly residential complex. Having already won bids for key urban redevelopment projects such as Banpo Ju Gong 1 Complex and Hannam 3 Complex, the company plans to apply various smart technology services to Hannam 4 Complex to offer residents a higher level of lifestyle and present a new paradigm for future residential culture.

A Hyundai Engineering & Construction official said, "For future customers seeking a free and comfortable life, the indoor-outdoor integrated autonomous delivery robot service will contribute to improving both customer convenience and quality of life." The official added, "By continuously expanding the residential technology and service areas that reflect a robot-friendly future lifestyle, we will lead the differentiated residential culture of Hyundai Engineering & Construction."

Hyundai Engineering & Construction is continuously focusing on discovering innovative services to lead the future residential culture centered around robots. Last year, the company collaborated with CJ Logistics, Dihive, a robot specialized startup, and Boston Dynamics to carry out a last-mile robot delivery service using the robot dog 'Spot,' developing services specialized for apartment complexes by collaborating with group innovation platforms and promising startups utilizing robotics technology.
