ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – Paraguay is set to vigorously promote the virtual auction platform "Ciclo de Ferias de Invernada por Pantalla" (Winter Pasture Livestock Fair Cycle via Screen) to revitalize the national livestock industry. The event aims to trade over 15,000 cattle, offering new business opportunities for livestock farmers and buyers.
The event is spearheaded by the livestock specialist company Everdem, in collaboration with the Pa’i Puku Foundation, CREA Paraguay, and the Paraguayan Rural Association (ARP). Beyond facilitating livestock transactions, they also plan to contribute to education and social projects in the Chaco region. Notably, the increasing use of digital technology in auctions in recent years highlights efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency.
Rodrigo Argaña, Director of Everdem, stated, "The recent rains have improved pasture conditions, bringing renewed vigor to the livestock sector. We will provide high-quality cattle to maximize the profitability of winter grazers." He added that the current cattle market is balanced in terms of supply and demand, making this auction timely.
The virtual auction will operate using a combination of pre-bidding and live bidding. Director Argaña emphasized, "Transactions via screen allow for the selection of livestock by region, and open bidding reflects the actual market value. We guarantee a 100% transparent market, helping to establish fair prices." This is considered an advantage over traditional on-site auctions, saving time and costs while increasing reliability.
Paraguay ranks among the top 10 beef exporting countries globally, producing over 400,000 tons of beef annually. This virtual auction is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of the livestock industry, contributing to increased farm income and enhanced international competitiveness. Event organizers stated their intention to expand the market through continuous virtual auctions even after this fair concludes.
