Asunción, Paris – The governments of Paraguay and France have forged a historic film co-production agreement (Acuerdo de Coproducción Cinematográfica) at the Cannes International Film Festival, marking a new chapter in the development of Paraguay's film industry. The signing ceremony for this pivotal agreement took place on Tuesday, May 20, local time, at the 'Plage du CNC' during the Cannes International Film Festival, one of the world's most prestigious cinematic events. Gaëtan Bruel, Director of the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée, CNC), an agency under the French Ministry of Culture, and Adriana Ortiz Semidei, Minister of Culture of Paraguay, signed the agreement.

The authorized implementing bodies for this agreement have been designated as the National Audiovisual Institute of Paraguay (Instituto Nacional del Audiovisual Paraguayo, INAP) on the Paraguayan side, and the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC) on the French side. Also in attendance at the signing ceremony, underscoring the importance of this agreement, were Cynthia Filártiga Lacroix, Paraguayan Ambassador to France, and Christian Andrés Gayoso, Secretary General of INAP.
