SAN JOSÉ, COSTA RICA - The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Costa Rica announced that it held the first-ever Korean Agri-Food Promotion Expo in the capital, San José, on October 19 (local time).
The event, which took place on October 17 in cooperation with the Costa Rican Ministry of Culture and Youth and the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), featured 10 Korean food companies introducing a diverse array of Korean edibles.
According to the embassy, the inaugural event in Costa Rica attracted over 1,000 visitors, indicating a high level of local interest. The initiative also focused on building a foundation for the Korean industry's entry into the Costa Rican market by linking them with local buyers and providing support for export consultations.
Jeon Geun-seok, the Korean Ambassador to Costa Rica, stated: "Compared to the Costa Rican people's fondness for Korean food, opportunities to access Korean food products locally have been limited until now." The Ambassador expressed his hope that "the expo will serve as a positive momentum in the process of expanding the export of Korean agri-food products."
The expo represents a significant step in Korea's strategy to diversify and expand the presence of its food products in Central America, capitalizing on the growing global popularity of Korean culture and gastronomy.
