Encarnación, Paraguay - Led by the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), public and private entities in the Itaipu region have begun full-scale preparations to strengthen the local service sector ahead of the "2025 Paraguay Rally," which will be held from August 28 to 31, 2025. The event will be centered in the seventh district of Itaipu and aims to revitalize the local economy and enhance the region's status as a tourist destination.
A public-private partnership involving various institutions, including the Itaipu Governor's Office, the National Vocational Training Service (SNPP), and the Encarnación Chamber of Commerce, discussed specific implementation plans at a recent meeting.
Key plans include securing funding support for service providers, surveying local workforce training needs and developing educational programs, promoting the formalization of the informal economy, and improving logistics and supply chains. In particular, the city of Encarnación plans to enhance the competitiveness of tourism-related industries such as hotels, catering (restaurants), and transportation through this rally, and provide visitors with a high-quality experience.
An official from the Ministry of Industry and Commerce stated, "This collaboration is not just about preparing for an event, but also about laying the foundation for sustainable growth of the local economy. We will do our best to ensure that Encarnación establishes itself as an international sports event venue."
Furthermore, the rally is expected to attract over 500,000 spectators and numerous international participants, which is anticipated to be a significant opportunity for local small business owners and entrepreneurs.
Meanwhile, the Itaipu region, located in southern Paraguay, is a major tourist destination already well-known for its Jesuit ruins and beautiful natural landscapes. The 2025 Paraguay Rally is attracting attention as an appealing event not only for motorsport fans but also for general tourists, and there are plans to further enhance the regional brand value through this event. Relevant organizations will continue to hold regular consultations to review the progress of preparations and encourage the participation of local residents and businesses.
