Amidst the soaring global gold prices, a Chinese woman has garnered attention by revealing her experience of cooking hot pot in a pot made of pure gold.
According to local Chinese media outlets and Weibo posts, a gold and silver shop in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, China, crafted a pot from 1 kg of pure gold bars for a customer's order. According to the local market price in China, the price of this 'golden pot' is said to reach about 700,000 yuan (about 140 million won).
The gold pot was completed in about a month through a repetitive process of heating, hammering, and cooling the gold.
A Chinese woman released a video on the internet of herself cooking ramen and hot pot in the completed pot. It is reported that this pot is not owned by the woman and was used with the permission of the customer.
This video has exceeded 2 million views and 18,000 'likes' in a short period of time.
Some netizens expressed concerns that cooking with a golden pot could be harmful to the body. Although the melting point of gold is over 1000 degrees, so the heat generated during cooking is not enough to affect the gold, it is still argued that caution is needed.
The woman said, "The golden pot boiled water faster than the pot I used before, but the taste of the hot pot is no different from other pots."
