SINGAPORE, March 25, 2025 – Specialist Risk Group (SRG), a prominent insurance intermediary, has officially announced the establishment of its Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Singapore. This strategic move is underpinned by significant investments from leading global investment firms Warburg Pincus and Temasek, signaling a strong commitment to the burgeoning Asia Pacific insurance market.

The launch, announced today, follows Warburg Pincus and Temasek’s acquisition of a majority stake in SRG in September of the previous year. The new Singapore hub will mirror SRG’s successful business model in the UK and Ireland, which is characterized by its focus on navigating intricate risks, leveraging deep specialist knowledge, and fostering a culture centered around its people.

From its Singapore base, SRG aims to expand its reach by providing tailored solutions for complex and challenging risks across specialist insurance sectors. This includes intricate property and casualty insurance programs, as well as hard-to-place risks associated with employee benefits. The company emphasizes that its Asia Pacific operations will be driven by a team combining global expertise with a nuanced understanding of local market dynamics.

Collin Yap, the newly appointed CEO of SRG Asia Pacific, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch, stating, "This is a carefully considered and significant first step for SRG into the Asia Pacific region. Our ambition is clear: we want to be the first port of call for clients facing difficult, complex, and specialist risks that are hard to place."

Yap further highlighted the company’s intention to replicate its successful UK and Ireland model, emphasizing the integration of a specialist mindset with a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a people-first culture within the Asia Pacific operations.

Warren Downey, Group CEO of SRG, underscored the strategic importance of the Singapore hub. "When we established SRG, we recognized a market need for a specialist business that prioritized talent and culture, creating an environment where individuals could excel and contribute to significant growth," Downey commented. "Singapore, with its status as a global hub in an increasingly complex world, was the logical choice for our Asia Pacific gateway, and Collin Yap is the natural leader to drive our vision forward – a vision built on decency, respect, and a commitment to building a company we can all be proud of."

The establishment of this regional hub positions SRG to become a key player in the specialist insurance broking and risk advisory landscape within the Asia Pacific market, promising to bring a unique blend of global expertise and local insight to clients facing increasingly complex risk challenges.
