LG Electronics has introduced seven next-generation Internet of Things (IoT) devices co-developed with Apple. Through this collaboration with a global big tech company, LG is expanding its artificial intelligence (AI) home ecosystem and accelerating the mass adoption of its technologies.

LG Electronics and Apple held a joint product launch event on the 13th (local time) in Manhattan, New York, revealing innovative IoT devices designed to elevate everyday convenience to the next level. The event was attended by key executives, including Kwak Do-young, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics North America, Jeong Ki-hyun, Vice President and Head of the HS Platform Business Center, and Matthew Costello, Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple.

The new lineup consists of a total of seven devices: an indoor camera, two outdoor cameras (with and without floodlights), a doorbell, a door lock, a thermostat, and a temperature sensor. They are scheduled to launch within this year, initially prioritizing North American markets such as the United States and Canada, as well as the United Kingdom.

These products seamlessly integrate with both LG Electronics' AI home platform, LG ThinQ, and the Apple ecosystem, allowing users to check device statuses and effortlessly control them anytime, anywhere. An LG Electronics representative explained, "All products connect instantly with mobile devices such as iPhones and iPads with a single touch. Subsequently, device usage history is automatically saved as personalized data in the cloud for convenient management."

Looking at the detailed functions, the thermostat comprehensively analyzes the user's movement patterns, time of day, and weather via an iPhone or Apple Watch to comfortably optimize indoor heating and cooling, while managing the temperature of the entire house based on spatial data collected by sensors.

The multi-sensor-equipped door lock detects subtle user movements to analyze entry intentions, naturally unlocking doors without requiring separate operations. It also instantly alerts mobile devices to any abnormal situations, such as doors left open, tampering attempts, or unauthorized entries.

Camera-equipped products, including indoor and outdoor cameras and doorbells, feature applied "Vision AI" technology. This enables users to intuitively monitor situations both inside and outside the home. The outdoor cameras and doorbells overlooking the exterior distinguish between people, animals, vehicles, and package deliveries to provide context-appropriate alerts, while securing durability with IP65-grade dust and water resistance.

The indoor camera also recognizes people and pets, detecting abnormal sounds like baby crying or glass breaking to deliver prompt, customized alerts. Through organic device interoperation, the indoor camera automatically switches to privacy protection mode upon returning home, while the outdoor camera monitors the surroundings 24/7, immediately transmitting alerts to mobile devices if an abnormal situation occurs.

Rigorous privacy protection features were completed based on both companies' top-tier security technologies. LG Electronics' security solution, LG Shield, and Apple's data encryption technology minimize the possibility of hacking or data leaks.

The synergy effect created by LG Electronics' "spatial home appliances" philosophy and Apple's "minimalist design" is also striking. Finished with three colors—Essence Graphite, Essence White, and Essence Silver—and a streamlined design minimizing seams, the products harmonize naturally with spaces to deliver aesthetic satisfaction.

These products were completed by combining LG Electronics' long-accumulated residential space user experience data and manufacturing capabilities with Apple's platform ecosystem-based user experience. An LG Electronics representative stated, "Both companies have maintained close cooperation from the initial conception stage of the products to achieve our shared goal of building an intuitive and convenient AI home environment that naturally permeates customers' daily lives."

LG Electronics stated that through these new products, it will drastically strengthen its IoT device lineup—a core element of the AI home—and further expand its AI home ecosystem, connecting the "ThinQ On" hub, the "ThinQ" platform, and AI home appliances. The company plans to organically integrate with Apple's platform, which encompasses over 2.5 billion active devices, to broaden the horizons of the AI home and enrich the customer experience.

Jeong Ki-hyun, Head of LG Electronics' HS Platform Business Center, stated, "We will provide a safe and intuitive AI home experience by combining LG Electronics' expertise in home appliances and indoor spaces, Apple's unmatched user experience, and both companies' powerful security capabilities."
