Cheonan City Honors Winners of King Wang Geon Storytelling Contest

Cheonan, South Korea – Cheonan City held an award ceremony on the 14th to honor the winners of the nationwide King Wang Geon storytelling contest, hosted by the Cheonan branch of the Korean Writers' Association.
Supported by Cheonan City, the contest sought to discover creative works that could be adapted into various forms of media, such as musicals, films, dramas, and comics, based on the dreams and historical facts related to King Wang Geon, particularly his connection to Cheonan.
Out of 53 submitted works, four were selected as finalists. The grand prize was awarded to Gi-don Byeon for his novel, "The General of the Throne," earning him a certificate from the Cheonan mayor and a prize of 8 million won. The first runner-up was Dong-jun Seol for his novel, "Cheonan, I Will Become Your Star," who received a prize of 3 million won.
Su-min Lee, Tae-hee Kim, and Doo-hee Yoon shared the second-place prize for their screenplay, "The Sword of Inclusion," while Do-yeong Jo and Chae-i Lee won for their screenplay, "Embracing the Grand Vision of Soaring High and Inclusion." Both second-place winners received 1,500,000 won each.
Cheonan Mayor Sang-don Park expressed his delight at the diverse range of submissions, saying, "I am pleased to see numerous works that depict King Wang Geon's politics, love, and especially his dream of securing the peace of the nation by first naming this place Cheonan. We will strive to disseminate King Wang Geon's story through various forms of content."
