Baglung: Farmers in Khatekhola Rural Municipality-6 in Baglung district have achieved a bumper orange harvest this year, with production valued at a record Rs 54 million. This represents a significant increase of Rs 20 million compared to the previous year's output of Rs 35 million, according to Agricultural Technician Agni Kandel.
The increased yield is attributed to a disease-free season and effective technical support from the rural municipality. Farmers cultivated oranges across 30 hectares of land, resulting in a total harvest of nearly 900 metric tonnes.
Khatekhola Rural Municipality is actively promoting the expansion of orange farming in the region. Loknath Kandel, a local farmer, emphasized the importance of proper garden management in maximizing yields.
The farmers in this region have expressed no concerns regarding market access, as buyers directly visit their orchards to purchase the produce.
This successful harvest underscores the growing potential of orange farming in Baglung district and provides a promising outlook for the local agricultural economy.
