KUALA LUMPUR – Ascend Airways Malaysia, an affiliate of Ascend Airways UK, has announced plans to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2025, aiming to provide essential aircraft and crew services to airlines in Malaysia and the broader region. Based at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, the company will specialize in offering flexible, on-demand solutions to airlines facing peak demand periods.

According to a company representative, Ascend Airways Malaysia will operate as an aircraft charter provider, not a commercial airline. This strategic focus will enable them to offer customized wet lease and air charter services, allowing airlines like Malaysia Airlines, AirAsia, and Batik Air Malaysia to efficiently scale their operations without long-term commitments.

“We can operate our aircraft anywhere based on our clients’ operational needs, for example in Bangladesh, India, or China,” the representative stated, highlighting the company’s operational flexibility.

Ascend Airways Malaysia has confirmed its intention to operate Boeing narrowbody aircraft, with plans to initially deploy Boeing 737 Classic aircraft and later expand to include Boeing 737-800NG models. The exact fleet size will be disclosed upon receipt of the Air Operator Certificate from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia. Currently, the company holds a conditional Air Service Permit from the Malaysian Aviation Commission, valid until November 14th.

This venture is backed by the Ireland-based Avia Solutions Group, a global aviation services provider that has supplied 221 aircraft worldwide on customized wet lease and air charter arrangements. Ascend Airways Malaysia’s entry into the market is expected to enhance the operational capabilities of regional airlines by providing crucial capacity during peak seasons.
