Manama, Bahrain – Bahrain has officially launched its groundbreaking MyGov application, a comprehensive digital platform designed to streamline and enhance access to a wide array of public services for its citizens. The app, unveiled by Minister of Interior and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Information and Communication Technology, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, represents a significant leap in the nation's ongoing digital transformation efforts.
Developed by Bahrain’s Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), MyGov aims to provide a seamless, user-friendly experience, enabling citizens to manage essential tasks directly from their smartphones, thereby eliminating the need for physical visits to government offices.
Key Features and Streamlined Services:
The MyGov application offers a diverse range of services, including:
Nationality, Passports, and Residence Affairs (NPRA): Simplified processes for passport issuance and renewal, residency applications, and travel permit issuance.
General Directorate of Traffic: Convenient driving license and vehicle registration renewals, along with traffic fine payments.
ID Cards and Birth Certificates: Efficient issuance, renewal, and tracking of ID cards, and easy access to birth certificates for children and domestic workers.
Bahrain Post: Seamless renewal of private P.O. box subscriptions and postal shipment tracking utilizing eKey 2.0 with face biometric authentication.
Public Security Services: Streamlined reporting to police stations, the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption, and the Investigation and Follow-Up Department at NPRA, as well as reporting online child abuse cases and requesting Good Conduct Certificates.
Enhanced Security and Accessibility:
To ensure secure and efficient access, MyGov integrates the upgraded eKey 2.0 system, featuring advanced face biometric authentication. This unified login platform, a collaboration between iGA and Beyon Connect, has also been adopted by Bahrain telecommunications provider Batelco.
Furthermore, Bahrain has incorporated Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology into its national ID cards, enhancing their functionality and facilitating smoother travel for citizens.
Availability and Impact:
The MyGov application is now available for download through the eGovernment Apps Store (bahrain.bh/apps), providing easy access to essential government services for all Bahraini citizens. This launch marks a significant milestone in Bahrain's commitment to digital innovation, improved public service delivery, and enhanced citizen convenience.
