MANAMA, BAHRAIN – Gulf Air, Bahrain’s national carrier, has announced the launch of direct flights to Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, commencing June 2, 2025. This strategic move marks the airline’s return to the Kenyan capital after a hiatus of more than ten years, underscoring its commitment to expanding its African network.
The new route will feature five weekly flights, providing enhanced travel options between Bahrain and Nairobi. Passengers can expect flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays, with two additional services scheduled for Fridays, catering to both weekend and weekday travelers. Gulf Air will deploy its modern Airbus A320neo aircraft for these flights, ensuring a comfortable and efficient travel experience.
This initiative is part of Gulf Air’s broader strategy to broaden its international footprint and explore emerging markets. The direct connection aims to strengthen ties between East Africa and the Middle East, offering increased flexibility for business and leisure travel.
“The reintroduction of direct flights to Nairobi signifies our dedication to expanding our presence in key African markets,” stated a Gulf Air spokesperson. “We are confident that this new route will foster stronger economic and cultural ties between Bahrain and Kenya.”
Travelers can now book flights and access detailed information through the Gulf Air mobile application, the airline’s official website (gulfair.com), or via authorized travel agencies. The launch of this route is anticipated to provide a significant boost to travel and trade between the two regions.
