SINGAPORE - In a significant stride towards decarbonizing its maritime sector, Singapore has unveiled a new technical reference aimed at standardizing the charging infrastructure for electric harbor vessels. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG), in collaboration with the Singapore Standards Council (SSC), announced the release of Technical Reference (TR) 136, a comprehensive guideline designed to ensure the safe and efficient development of charging and battery swapping systems for electric vessels operating within Singapore's port.

TR 136 places a strong emphasis on both safety and interoperability. The guidelines meticulously detail safety protocols to safeguard personnel and assets from electrical and mechanical hazards during the installation and operation of charging systems. Furthermore, it establishes crucial technical requirements to foster seamless interaction between different charging and battery swapping systems offered by various service providers.
