Chungnam Province has announced a call for applications to recognize and support both promising small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with high growth potential and exemplary long-lived enterprises that have contributed to the regional economy for over three decades. The application period extends until the end of this month, with the province set to evaluate factors such as growth potential and contributions to the local economy.

The "Promising SME" initiative aims to discover and nurture SMEs within the province that demonstrate exceptional technological prowess and growth prospects, positioning them as leaders in the regional economic landscape. Eligible applicants are manufacturing businesses that possess outstanding technology or patents, are registered and operating a factory within Chungnam Province, and have maintained manufacturing operations for at least three years, including manufacturing experience in other regions.

Following an initial document screening by respective city and county authorities, the province will conduct on-site inspections. A final selection of the top 15 promising SMEs is scheduled for announcement in September. These designated enterprises will receive a comprehensive package of benefits, including preferential support for SME manufacturing operation stabilization funds for six years, a three-year grace period for local tax audits, advantages in the selection process for overseas marketing projects and provincial employment excellence company recognition, and the conferment of a "Promising SME" certification plaque and designation certificate.

In parallel, the "Exemplary Long-Lived Enterprise" program seeks to acknowledge and encourage established local businesses that have significantly contributed to regional economic development and job creation through sustained operation over an extended period. To qualify, companies must have their headquarters and primary place of business (factory) located within Chungnam Province, be registered for over 30 years in the manufacturing or knowledge service sectors, and have employed 10 or more individuals in the past three years.

Successful long-lived enterprises will receive a five-year certification, along with a certificate and plaque. They will also benefit from preferential interest rates on SME manufacturing operation stabilization funds and receive additional points when applying for projects supported by the Chungnam Economic Promotion Agency.

A representative from Chungnam Province emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, "By identifying and supporting promising SMEs that will lead Chungnam's future and exemplary long-lived enterprises that have long underpinned the province's economy, we aim to lay a foundation for their further growth." The official urged active participation from eligible businesses.

Interested companies can find detailed information on the Chungnam Province website (www.chungnam.go.kr) under the "Announcements/Notices" section or contact the Provincial Job and Enterprise Support Division at 041-635-3412 or their respective city/county business support departments for inquiries.

This dual-pronged approach by Chungnam Province underscores its commitment to fostering a vibrant and sustainable local economy by nurturing both emerging high-growth businesses and celebrating the enduring contributions of its long-established enterprises. The benefits offered are designed to provide tangible support in areas crucial for business growth and stability, ultimately aiming to enhance the competitiveness of Chungnam's SMEs and strengthen the overall regional economic fabric.
