Zagreb, Croatia – Swiss energy provider Axpo and Croatian manufacturer Klimaoprema have solidified a significant commitment to sustainable energy with the signing of a 10-year Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (cPPA). Under this agreement, Axpo will supply 17.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of green electricity annually to Klimaoprema’s production facilities located in Nova Gradiška and Samobor.
This cPPA marks a pivotal moment for Axpo, representing its inaugural cPPA in Croatia. The deal builds upon Axpo’s strategic entry into the Croatian market in 2023, which was highlighted by a substantial 1.8 terawatt-hour (TWh) wind virtual PPA.
Filip Bozic, Senior Originator at Axpo Croatia, emphasized the agreement’s significance, stating, “This deal showcases Axpo’s ability to provide customized energy solutions while actively supporting the region’s energy transition.” The partnership underscores the growing trend of corporations adopting renewable energy sources to reduce their environmental footprint.
Croatia’s renewable energy sector is experiencing robust growth, particularly in solar power. In 2024, the nation added an impressive 397 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity, signaling a strong commitment to expanding its renewable energy portfolio. Furthermore, Croatia has announced plans to conduct two public solar tenders in the current year, further incentivizing the development of solar energy infrastructure.
The collaboration between Axpo and Klimaoprema exemplifies the increasing synergy between international energy providers and local industries in driving the adoption of sustainable energy practices. This long-term agreement not only secures a stable supply of green electricity for Klimaoprema but also contributes to Croatia’s broader efforts to achieve its renewable energy targets.
