Colorado Springs – In the early hours of a Sunday two weeks ago, a massive joint raid by federal authorities on an illegal late-night nightclub in Colorado Springs led to the arrest of over 100 undocumented immigrants. This operation followed months of investigation into widespread illicit activities, including drug trafficking, prostitution, and violent crimes.

Jonathan Pullen, a special agent in charge of the Rocky Mountain Division of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), stated that more than 300 law enforcement officers were mobilized for the raid, with participation from multiple agencies including the DEA, Department of Homeland Security, and Army Military Police. He emphasized the operation's success, saying, "Colorado Springs woke up a safer community today."

Released footage showed federal agents identifying themselves outside the building and ordering individuals to come out with their hands up. Other videos captured dozens of people desperately fleeing through exits as federal agents breached windows to gain entry, with dozens of suspects later seen handcuffed and awaiting transport.

Agent Pullen reported that drugs, including cocaine, and multiple firearms were seized from the nightclub. He described the tense situation at the scene, stating, "Most of the narcotics were thrown to the floor as police came through the door." It is estimated that over 200 people were inside the nightclub at the time of the raid, including about a dozen active-duty military personnel who were either patrons or working as armed security. The DEA will consult with the Army's Criminal Investigation Division regarding next steps for these individuals. Pullen added that some patrons were also arrested on undisclosed outstanding warrants. The nationalities of the arrested immigrants have not yet been disclosed.

This large-scale crackdown comes amid an intensified, unprecedented immigration enforcement campaign by U.S. President Donald Trump. During his term, President Trump has tested the limits of executive power, clashing with federal judges. His aggressive immigration policies have led to the detention of over 1,000 international college students, some of whom temporarily regained their legal status. These policies have effectively blocked immigrant inflows through the southern border.

President Trump shared the DEA video of the raid on his social media platform, Truth Social, expressing strong support: "Last night was a massive raid on drug dealers, murderers, and other violent criminals who have illegally entered our country and are engaged in the worst behavior."

Meanwhile, earlier this month, a federal judge in Colorado issued a ruling temporarily halting the deportation of immigrants whom President Trump sought to deport based on the 18th-century law, the 'Alien Enemies Act.'

This law permits the president to arrest and deport foreign nationals from countries with which the U.S. is at war or when the U.S. is invaded by foreign forces. This law has primarily been invoked only during wartime. The Trump administration has attempted to apply this law by deeming the "war on criminal organizations or gangs" as an "invasion by foreign forces." Despite these judicial roadblocks, the Trump administration remains unwavering in its commitment to cracking down on undocumented immigrants.

This Colorado Springs raid is another example of the Trump administration's increasingly stringent immigration policies, suggesting the possibility of similar large-scale crackdowns in the future.
