Asunción, Paraguay – The National Emergency Secretariat (SEN) announced that it held a meeting presided over by the Minister of National Defense, Óscar González, and decided to provide emergency relief supplies to the residents of the Chaco region, who have been severely affected by recent continuous heavy rains. This Friday, a vessel carrying 25,000 kg of food and medicine is scheduled to depart for the Chaco region.

This emergency relief effort is being carried out due to the severe damage to the road network in the Chaco region caused by the floods, making land access difficult. Accordingly, the National Emergency Secretariat will deploy the Navy vessel 'Capitán Remigio Cabral' to transport food supplies secured by the National Emergency Management Agency (SEN) from the Port of Carmelo Peralta to Bahía Negra and nearby areas.

In addition to the emergency food supplies, the vessel will also carry 1,000 kg of essential goods donated by local merchants and 100 boxes of various medicines provided by the Ministry of Public Health. Furthermore, the state-owned oil company Petropar will supply 15,000 liters of fuel necessary for the operation of generators for power generation in the Bahía Negra region. A total of 50,000 liters of fuel will be transported to various areas through this voyage.

Meanwhile, President Santiago Peña has decided to increase the frequency of Air Force transport aircraft operations to the Chaco region to twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) to strengthen support for the residents. This is expected to enable faster delivery of relief supplies and personnel support to the residents of Concepción, Vallemi, Bahía Negra, and Toro Pampa regions.

Earlier, last Wednesday, the private vessel 'Milah' departed from the old port of Concepción bound for Bahía Negra. This vessel carried emergency food, essential goods, and passengers facing difficulties in transportation, and is expected to be of great help to the residents of the northern Chaco region isolated due to poor road conditions.

Authorities plan to do their utmost to ensure that necessary relief supplies are smoothly delivered not only to major areas such as Pinasco, Puerto Guaraní, Puerto Casado, Vallemi, Olimpo, and Bahía Negra, but also to small villages and farms through this ship and air transport.
