World Bank President to Make First Visit to Paraguay in April for Economic Cooperation Talks

ASUNCIÓN, Paraguay – World Bank Group President Ajay Banga is scheduled to make his first official visit to Paraguay on April 1st, where he will attend a discussion forum held at the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP) Convention Hall.
According to the Paraguayan Ministry of Economy and Finance, this visit marks the first official visit to Paraguay by the highest-ranking official of the World Bank Group.
The discussion forum, to be held at 11:00 AM on April 1st at the BCP Convention Hall, will be attended by Paraguayan government officials, private sector representatives, and economic and development experts.
The forum is expected to feature key discussions on the World Bank's role in the Latin American region and opportunities for cooperation in strategic areas for Paraguay's economic growth and poverty reduction.
President Banga's visit comes at a time of strengthening relations between the Paraguayan government and the World Bank. Previously, Paraguayan President Santiago Peña met with President Banga to discuss Paraguay's economic achievements and plans for structural reforms.
In a recent report on Paraguay, the World Bank highlighted that the country has a "promising future," praising the remarkable economic development achieved over the past two decades thanks to macroeconomic stability and institutional reforms focused on trade openness.
Furthermore, the World Bank emphasized that Paraguay has significant potential to leap towards high-income status if it implements a comprehensive strategy to address its current challenges.
President Banga's visit to Paraguay is anticipated to further solidify cooperation between the World Bank and Paraguay and serve as an important opportunity to explore concrete measures for Paraguay's sustainable economic development.
