Bucheon City received the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award for its "Where Is Our Neighborhood Now? Urban Redevelopment Integrated Information Service" project at the "2025 Public Service Design Excellence Awards" hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety at the Government Complex Sejong on the 1st.
This competition selects outstanding service design projects from central and local government agencies nationwide. Bucheon City was recognized for enhancing the accessibility and reliability of administrative services by providing fragmented and complex urban redevelopment information in a way that is easy and transparent for citizens to understand.
Previously, urban redevelopment information was scattered across various Excel and text files, making it difficult for citizens to access and understand the progress of projects. The complex terminology and unclear information structure led to conflicts among residents and repeated civil complaints.
To address this, Bucheon City planned the project with the goal of creating a foundation for citizens to understand urban redevelopment information more easily and clearly, and to participate actively. They operated a "Citizen Design Group" composed of citizens to focus on on-site improvements and implemented a user-centered design that reflected various opinions.
As a result, they built an integrated information service (https://www.bucheon.go.kr/jungbi) that allows people to see the current status of urban redevelopment projects and association information at a glance. The service is designed to help citizens easily understand complex information through features like map-based area visualization, customized information for different types of citizens, and diagrams of urban redevelopment project stages. This has led to a decrease in repeated civil complaints and has contributed to increased administrative reliability and the resolution of information gaps among residents.
Bucheon City Mayor Cho Yong-ik stated, "The creation of this integrated information service is an innovative example of a project driven by citizens and supported by the administration. We will continue to work to create an environment where any citizen can easily understand and participate in policy information."
Based on this achievement, Bucheon City plans to continuously improve the urban redevelopment information service and expand the application of citizen-centered design to various other administrative fields. The goal is to realize service innovations that citizens can feel firsthand and to enhance the city's overall competitiveness and administrative reliability.
