Helsinki, Finland – The Finnish Ministry of the Interior announced on Wednesday that the country has delivered 68 truckloads of vital civilian aid to Ukraine between May and November. This aid, largely donated by private companies, individuals, and the third sector, is part of a broader effort to support Ukraine in the face of Russia's ongoing aggression.
Since the start of the war, Finland has provided substantial humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, including 379 truckloads of civilian materials and 88 vehicles. Recent donations have focused on critical infrastructure support, particularly in the energy sector. Finnish companies have contributed 936 solar panels, engines, transformers, and generators to help Ukraine's beleaguered power grid.
In addition to energy sector aid, Finland has also sent IT equipment, water supply and firefighting equipment, rescue service vehicles, a mine clearance vessel, a portable modular childcare building, and medical supplies for rehabilitation and children's hospitals.
Heikki Honkanen, a specialist at the Ministry of the Interior, emphasized the urgent need for continued support: "Russia's systematic destruction of Ukraine's critical infrastructure has created a significant demand for energy sector aid. Additionally, Ukraine requires support for water supply, waste management, and various types of vehicles."
Finland's humanitarian assistance is crucial in bolstering Ukraine's resilience and enabling its authorities to continue providing essential services to the population.
