The City of Daejeon announced that it will hold the "All-Citizen Energy Walking Festival," a citizen participation program, at 1:00 PM on November 15 to celebrate the successful hosting of the 9th World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-9).

The program will take place around the 1st Exhibition Center of the Daejeon Convention Center (DCC) and Hanbat Arboretum, with 1,500 participants expected to be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications can be submitted from October 1 to 31 through the official website or by scanning the QR code provided on the event poster.

The 2026 Daejeon World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy Conversion (WCPEC-9) is an international event where photovoltaic academic conferences from three continents—Europe, Asia, and the Americas—are held together every four years, and it will be hosted in Daejeon for the first time in South Korea.

Through the All-Citizen Energy Walking Festival, the city aims to promote the photovoltaic academic conference and reaffirm the significance of carbon neutrality and energy.

The walking festival features a mobile stamp walking tour where participants complete missions while walking around the Hanbat Arboretum, along with the "Challenge! Energy OX Quiz Championship." Designed as a participation- and completion-oriented program rather than a competitive race, it aims to help citizens easily and enjoyably experience the significance of solar power, renewable energy, and carbon neutrality.

In addition, eco-friendly experience programs will be prepared, including solar-powered electric vehicle experiences, bicycle-powered cotton candy making, waste separation game roulette, and paper chair making. Various benefits, such as Ontong Daejeon local currency, will also be provided to course completers and outstanding participants.

Moon In-hwan, Director-General of the Livelihood Economy Bureau of Daejeon City, stated, "This event is a participatory energy festival where the meaning of the World Conference on Photovoltaic Energy can be shared with citizens. We hope that citizens will walk and experience it with family, friends, and neighbors to feel the value of sustainable energy transition."
