Vietnam Launches Preparations for APEC Leaders' Week 2027 in Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc City, Vietnam – The People's Committee of Kien Giang province officially kicked off preparations for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week 2027 with a ceremony held on March 14 in the scenic Phu Quoc City.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha led the event, emphasizing the significance of the upcoming summit and urging local authorities and national ministries to form a Steering Committee dedicated to its organization. He highlighted the importance of attracting strategic investments in infrastructure projects that will not only serve the APEC Summit but also contribute to the long-term socio-economic development of Phu Quoc.
"Hosting the APEC Leaders' Week 2027 is a crucial responsibility and a unique opportunity for Phu Quoc to solidify its reputation as a premier global tourist destination," stated Deputy Prime Minister Ha. "It will also showcase Vietnam's, and specifically Kien Giang and Phu Quoc's, capability to host world-class events."
Kien Giang province has already completed a review of key projects essential for the APEC Leaders' Week. Plans are underway to expand the Phu Quoc International Airport and An Thoi Seaport, along with the construction of major facilities such as the APEC Avenue and a multifunctional APEC complex. These developments aim to enhance the island's infrastructure and accommodate the prestigious international gathering.
The 2027 APEC Leaders' Week is expected to bring together leaders from 21 member economies, fostering economic cooperation and addressing key regional challenges. The event presents a significant opportunity for Vietnam to strengthen its international standing and promote sustainable development.
