San José, Costa Rica – The Melico Salazar Popular Theater was filled with the wonder and excitement of 600 children and adolescents this past Saturday, March 8th, as they were treated to a special performance of the renowned "Giselle Ballet." This cultural initiative, organized by the office of Costa Rica's First Lady, Signe Zeikate, aimed to make the arts more accessible to the nation's youth.

The event was a collaborative effort between the National Ballet of Costa Rica and the National Ballet of Panama, highlighting the strong cultural ties between the two countries. The performance featured 50 talented dancers from Panama, including an appearance by Panama's Minister of Culture, Maruja Herrera.

First Lady Zeikate emphasized the significance of this cultural exchange, stating, "This exchange of cultures and artistic ideas helps us grow and appreciate the richness of art and the world around us. It also strengthens our ties with neighboring countries, creating lasting friendships and mutual respect through shared artistic experiences."

Viviana Clare, director of the National Ballet of Costa Rica, highlighted the ballet's commitment to social outreach. "As part of our social focus and in collaboration with the Office of the First Lady of the Republic, we donated a performance to more than 600 children from socially vulnerable areas, who enjoyed the 'Giselle' show, a masterpiece of French romantic ballet, and also had the opportunity to experience a Costa Rican architectural gem, the Melico Salazar Theater," Clare explained.

The children, hailing from various organizations and educational institutions, were given the opportunity to witness the beauty and artistry of classical ballet, many for the first time. The event not only provided a memorable cultural experience but also fostered a deeper appreciation for the arts among Costa Rica's youth.
