Gyeongnam Province announced a significant investment of 352.8 billion won ($270 million USD) in its "Three Sets of Farmer Support Projects" for 2025. The initiative aims to bolster farm household incomes and enhance the public role of agriculture and rural communities.

The projects consist of:

Basic Public Direct Payment: With a budget of 266.5 billion won, this program offers direct payments to small-scale farmers and those with limited land area. Payments per hectare have been increased by 5% compared to the previous year.
Farmer and Fishermen's Allowance: Allocated 74.5 billion won, this allowance provides 300,000 won to each registered agricultural and fishery business owner in the province. The payment schedule has been moved up by a month to June, aiming to increase farmer satisfaction.
Women Farmers' Voucher Support Project: Backed by 11.8 billion won, this project offers a 200,000 won voucher to eligible women farmers, which can be used at a wider range of businesses this year, including pharmacies and medical clinics. The number of beneficiaries has also been expanded to 59,000.
"These projects are designed to provide tangible support to farmers and contribute to the stability of farm household incomes," said Lee Jeong-gon, head of the Gyeongnam Provincial Agricultural Administration Bureau. "We are committed to developing more impactful programs and working hand-in-hand with farmers to achieve a thriving rural community."

The application period for these projects varies, with the Basic Public Direct Payment open from February 1st to April 30th, the Farmer and Fishermen's Allowance from February 4th to March 14th, and the Women Farmers' Voucher Support Project from February 10th to March 14th. Farmers are encouraged to apply through designated channels, including online platforms and local administrative welfare centers.
