Chungcheongnam-do Province and its 15 cities and counties are stepping up efforts to promote the Hometown Love Donation System in the new year. With the donation limit increased to 20 million won this year, the province is aiming to encourage early participation through various events and incentives.
One of the key initiatives is the "Dum and Dum Event," which offers an additional gift for donations of 100,000 won or more made in January. The diverse range of gifts includes local specialties such as honey, wine, seafood, garlic, and Korean beef, as well as experience-based options like rural lodging discount vouchers.
The province has seen significant growth in Hometown Love Donations, with a 147% increase in fundraising last year compared to the previous year. This puts Chungcheongnam-do second only to Jeju Island in terms of donation growth rate among metropolitan local governments.
Recognizing the importance of attractive gifts in driving donations, cities and counties are also diversifying their offerings. Cheonan City, for example, has expanded its gift selection to include 64 items from 23 companies, featuring local favorites like Cheonan Heungtaryeong rice and walnut cookies, as well as unique experiences like cheese making and Dolgama Manju from the popular bakery Toujours.
Asan City is taking a different approach by partnering with the Asan Livestock Cooperative to offer a "volume increase event" for pork donations. Throughout January, donors will receive 800g each of pork belly and pork shoulder, a significant increase from the usual 600g.
The province and its cities and counties are also utilizing various promotional channels, including social media and events, to raise awareness about the Hometown Love Donation System and encourage participation.
