Bucheon Center for Multicultural Family Support Communicates with Citizens through 'Making My Own Hand Fan & Face Painting'

On Sunday, September 20, the 25th Bucheon Multicultural Festival, commemorating World Day for Cultural Diversity, was held at the Bucheon City Hall Lawn Plaza. This festival was designed as a venue where citizens could directly experience the cultures of various countries, understand each other's cultures, and communicate.

The Bucheon Center for Multicultural Family Support (Director Oh Uk-je), which participated in the festival, operated an experiential booth to raise interest and understanding of multiculturalism and to allow citizens to enjoy participating. At the center's booth, a 'Making My Own Hand Fan' experience was held using various stickers from different countries around the world. Participants freely chose stickers symbolizing various countries to decorate their own unique hand fans, allowing them to approach cultures from all over the world in a friendly way.

In addition, face painting for children and family visitors received a great response. Participants added to the joy of the festival by drawing desired pictures and patterns on their faces, making it a special time for families and friends to create memories together. During the event, merit commendations were also awarded to center staff who contributed to local community multicultural development and communication, providing a time to encourage their hard work and contributions. 

Director Oh Uk-je of the Bucheon Center for Multicultural Family Support expressed, "I hope that through this festival, citizens had a time to directly experience cultures of various countries, understand each other's differences, and mingle together," adding, "We will continue to operate various programs where members of the local community can respect cultural diversity and communicate together."

The 25th Bucheon Multicultural Festival concluded as a meaningful time where Bucheon’s image of diverse cultures harmonizing was shared with citizens, respecting and understanding each other's cultures.
