YONGIN, South Korea – Everland, South Korea's largest theme park, is set to blossom with cuteness this spring as it renews its partnership with Japanese entertainment giant Sanrio for its annual flower festival. Following a wildly successful collaboration last year, the two companies are expanding the Sanrio experience across Everland's sprawling gardens, promising an even more enchanting spectacle.
Last year's festival, featuring pastel-hued Sanrio characters like Hello Kitty and My Melody, proved a major draw, boosting Everland's tulip festival attendance by 10 percent and generating record-high visitor satisfaction. The event also sparked a social media frenzy, doubling online engagement compared to previous years.
This year, Everland is upping the ante. With 1.2 million spring flowers of over 100 different species expected to bloom, the gardens will provide a vibrant backdrop for the Sanrio characters. Beyond the familiar faces, Everland is introducing characters never before seen in international Sanrio collaborations outside of Japan, including Hangyodon, Keroppi, and Usahana. A specially choreographed dance performance featuring these beloved characters will also be a daily highlight.
"The response to last year's Sanrio collaboration was phenomenal," said a representative from Everland. "We're thrilled to bring back this unique experience and expand it, offering our guests even more to enjoy."
In addition to the festival, Everland is launching "Garden Pass" in March, Korea's first garden subscription program. This premium membership will provide access to a variety of seasonal gardens, both within Everland and at select external locations like the Hoam Art Museum Heewon. The Garden Pass aims to cater to garden enthusiasts and further solidify Everland's position as a leading destination for both entertainment and natural beauty. The spring flower festival, combined with the new Garden Pass, is expected to draw large crowds and further solidify Everland's popularity.
