Medellín, Colombia – Colombian pop star Shakira's highly anticipated concert in Medellín, part of her "Las mujeres ya no lloran" tour, has been canceled due to concerns over the stage's infrastructure. The announcement was made on February 22nd by Páramo Presenta, the event's organizer.
The concert, originally scheduled for February 24th, was called off after a structural issue was discovered in the ceiling during the stage setup. The damage posed a potential safety risk to the artist and the crew, prompting the cancellation.
"We are working to reschedule the concert for a future date," Páramo Presenta stated in their official announcement.
This tour marks Shakira's first performances in her home country in seven years. The singer, known for global hits like "Hips don't lie" and "Waka Waka," recently regained immense popularity with her collaboration "BZRP Music Sessions #53."
Shakira kicked off her Colombian leg with a successful show in Barranquilla on February 20th, where she was greeted by enthusiastic fans. She was scheduled to perform a second show in Barranquilla on February 23rd, followed by concerts in Medellín, Bogotá, and other major cities across Colombia. The tour will then continue through Chile, Argentina, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and the United States.
Unfortunately, the tour has faced a series of setbacks. Shakira had to postpone earlier shows in Peru due to health issues, including a recent emergency room visit for abdominal problems.
The cancellation of the Medellín concert has undoubtedly disappointed many fans, who were eagerly awaiting the opportunity to see the global superstar perform live.
