The idle space along the Namhan River transformed into a scenic landscape, emerging as a popular spot for strolls and photos.
Underneath the clear blue autumn sky, a breathtaking wave of pink cosmos and vibrant globe amaranths is painting the banks of the Namhan River.
The City of Yeoju announced on October 7 that a massive autumn flower garden—spanning approximately 66,110 square meters (about 20,000 pyeong) located beneath Yeoju Bridge in Cheonsong-dong—has reached full bloom, offering a unique visual spectacle right in the heart of the city.
The expansive garden features sweeping fields of pink and white cosmos. Right beside them, globe amaranths in striking shades—led by deep reds—are planted in distinct sections, creating a vivid color contrast. Walking along the paths winding through the flower beds offers a panoramic view of the Namhan River, downtown Yeoju, and distant mountain ridges.
This scenic garden was created to utilize the wide, vacant spaces along the Namhan River and provide seasonal attractions. Following initial sowing and planting by the city's management team, the cosmos and globe amaranths burst into bloom right on schedule after meticulous weeding, watering, and strict growth management.
Devoid of separate indoor facilities or artificial structures, the sprawling garden offers an unobstructed, sweeping view. Visitors can enjoy the natural scenery of the Namhan River alongside nearby attractions such as the Namhan River Suspension Bridge, Hwangpo traditional sailboat experiences, and tours of Silleuksa Temple. Located close to the downtown area, it has quickly captured attention as a seasonal resting spot where citizens can take leisurely walks and capture wonderful autumn photos.
The picturesque harmony of the crisp sky, the Namhan River, and the colorful tapestry of cosmos and globe amaranths captures the essence of deepening autumn in Yeoju. The flower garden beneath Yeoju Bridge goes beyond mere landscape creation in urban idle spaces; it has established itself as a premier autumn landmark where residents and visitors alike can truly experience the shifting seasons.
"I hope our citizens can take a moment to relax, fully savor the deepening autumn atmosphere, and create many happy 'life-shot' memories here," said Yeoju Mayor Lee Chung-woo.
