The Gangwon Tourism Organization (CEO Choi Sung-hyun) is launching the "Lake Tourism Zone Photowalk Tour" starting October 17, a project designed to photographically record the hidden charms of Chuncheon, Hongcheon, Hwacheon, and Yanggu—ranging from their nature and culture to alleys and local delicacies.
This photowalk tour is an experiential tourism program involving a total of 400 participants. Its key feature is allowing participants to pick up their cameras, explore every corner of the regions, discover new charms of Gangwon Province, and document them through their own photos and content. Rather than simply sightseeing, the program is structured so that participants can actively discover local charms and record them in personal content.
Starting October 17, the photowalks will take place across Chuncheon, Hongcheon, Hwacheon, and Yanggu with programs tailored to each region's distinct characteristics:
Chuncheon features "color hunting" to discover urban hues, creative photography, and active photowalks linked with rail bikes, Mulle-gil (water paths), and cable cars.
Hongcheon offers ecological photowalks set against forests and nature, alongside life-shot photography.
Hwacheon presents nighttime photowalks at the Cho Kyung-chul Observatory and content creation programs capturing local stories.
Yanggu has prepared courses highlighting local traits, including the Punchbowl Trail, local gastronomic features, and mountain nature photowalks.
Professional photographers and local hosts will provide photography know-how and on-site experience, allowing a broad range of participants from beginners to photo enthusiasts to join.
In particular, this project plans to link follow-up activities so that the experiences of the day do not end with the trip, but rather continuously spread online through the photos and travel stories captured by participants. A photography contest utilizing pictures from the photowalks will be promoted, and a foundation will be established for participants to steadily communicate by sharing each other's works and travel experiences through online communities. Through this, hidden travel destinations and local stories of Gangwon discovered through the eyes of the participants are expected to accumulate and spread as online content, leading to visits from even more travelers.
Choi Sung-hyun, CEO of the Gangwon Tourism Organization, stated, "Gangwon is an attractive travel destination where you can encounter new scenery and stories no matter where you lift your camera. We hope this photowalk tour becomes a special experience for participants to discover Gangwon's hidden charms, and an opportunity for the photos and stories captured during the trip to reach more people online. We will continue to develop differentiated tourism products combining regional nature, culture, and cuisine to make Gangwon a place where visitors want to stay longer and return."
