MILAN — On February 28, the Italian luxury house Bottega Veneta unveiled its Winter 2026 Collection in Milan, delivering a powerful vision that juxtaposes architectural raw rigidity with fluid human emotion.
The Concept: "Brutalism meets Sensuality"
Under the creative direction of Louise Trotter, the collection draws inspiration from the lifestyle of Milanese citizens—specifically the way they dress up for public spaces like operas, theaters, and plazas. The core theme revolves around the contrast between Brutalism and Sensuality.
Architectural Influence: Taking cues from Brutalist architecture, known for its raw concrete and unadorned structures, the collection features bold, firm silhouettes.
Softened Rigidity: These "hard" structures are reinterpreted through soft curves and daring decorative details, creating a wardrobe that transcends gender and generational boundaries.
"Skin on Skin": The house’s signature craftsmanship was showcased through textured surfaces that mimic fur using silk, fil coupé, and technical fabrics, creating a 3D effect across apparel, jewelry, and footwear.
A Star-Studded Front Row
The event drew significant international attention with a diverse guest list of global icons. Representing South Korea were legendary actress Youn Yuh-jung and I.N of the K-pop group Stray Kids. They were joined by other A-list celebrities, including:
Julianne Moore
Shu Qi
Daisy Edgar-Jones
Vicky Krieps
The Legacy of Craftsmanship
Founded in Vicenza in 1966, Bottega Veneta remains synonymous with its "Intrecciato" leather weaving technique. The Winter 2026 show paid homage to this heritage while channeling the radical artistry of figures like Maria Callas and Pier Paolo Pasolini. By blurring the lines between daily life and formal ritual, the collection reaffirms Bottega Veneta’s position as a brand that blends experimental design with traditional leather-working mastery.
