Expectations for spreading a proper companion animal culture through public-private-academic cooperation
Daejeon City announced that it will jointly host the "Animal Love Festival" on the 25th at Boramae Park in front of the South Gate Square of City Hall, in collaboration with the Daejeon Veterinary Medical Association and the Student Council of Chungnam National University's College of Veterinary Medicine.
Held under the subtitle "Canine Health Project for Pet Owners and Pets," this event was prepared to spread a proper companion animal culture through public-private-academic cooperation and foster a mature pet culture where pet owners and non-pet owners can harmonize together.
In particular, as the highlight of the event, a special lecture and Q&A session by Seol Chae-hyun, a renowned companion animal behavioral correction expert, is scheduled, raising high expectations among pet owners. Veterinary Surgeon Seol will deliver proper companion animal behavioral science knowledge and directly resolve questions on-site for citizens who have struggled with communicating with their pet dogs.
Starting with the opening ceremony at 10:00 AM, the event will feature various programs including ▲ the Meong-nyang Runway (fashion show) and ▲ Companion Animal O/X Quiz. In the afternoon, a recreation sports day featuring ▲ Companion Animal Mini-games and ▲ Companion Animal Olympics, in which guardians and pets participate together, will bring joy to participants.
In addition, professional medical support services will be significantly expanded. Visitors can take advantage of free health consultations covering internal/external medicine, dermatology, and dentistry, as well as ultrasound diagnostic imaging provided by the Daejeon Veterinary Medical Association, alongside zoonotic disease testing supported by the Institute of Health and Environment.
Various side events will also be prepared, including ▲ pet studio and industry exhibition booths ▲ grooming and behavioral correction counseling ▲ a photo time with lecturer Seol Chae-hyun, and ▲ a prize draw.
Lee Ki-young, head of the Daejeon Animal Protection Office, stated, "We hope this event, prepared jointly by Daejeon City, the Daejeon Veterinary Medical Association, and the Chungnam National University College of Veterinary Medicine, will bring great joy to pet families through various experiences and useful programs," adding, "We will do our utmost in preparation so that all citizens can enjoy the event safely and comfortably."
