Daejeon, South Korea – To welcome the spring season and extend a helping hand to vulnerable residents, Daejeon City held a "Spring of Love" side dish sharing event on March 6th, 2025, at the Happy House Free Meal Center. The event, organized by the Daejeon City Volunteer Federation, aimed to deliver warmth and sustenance to 300 households in need.

The event, a part of the city's "Warm Sharing Campaign," saw the participation of approximately 60 volunteers, including Vice Mayor Lee Taek-gu and Federation President Kim Young-tae. Together, they prepared a variety of nutritious side dishes, such as kimchi, traditional Korean pancakes, bulgogi (marinated beef), braised beef, and yukgaejang (spicy beef soup).

These carefully prepared meals were then delivered to nearby households, including single elderly residents, those living in low-income housing, basic livelihood security recipients, and veterans. Vice Mayor Lee Taek-gu also personally visited and comforted elderly residents with mobility issues.

Kim Young-tae, President of the Daejeon City Volunteer Federation, expressed his hope that the side dishes would bring warmth and love to those in need. He also pledged to continue such sharing activities to create a more caring community.

Vice Mayor Lee Taek-gu encouraged citizens to participate in and support various sharing activities, emphasizing the city's commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents.

Daejeon City has been actively promoting volunteerism and sharing through its "Warm Sharing Campaign." In 2024, the city formed a campaign headquarters with 44 organizations and actively engaged in various sharing activities. This year, the city plans to expand participation by engaging more young people and businesses.
