Busan Metropolitan City (Mayor Jeon Jae-soo) announced that it will host a special public lecture series under the theme "Maritime Capital Busan, Raising Anchor" on October 29 at 7 PM at Dongseo University’s Sohyang Theatre Woori Bank Hall, in collaboration with "Changing the World in 15 Minutes (hereafter SEBAST)."

This lecture series is designed to help citizens understand the future of Maritime Capital Busan easily and familiarly. Five speakers from various fields will deliver relay lectures across five themes: the Arctic Route, the Maritime Court, Artificial Intelligence (AI) marine industries, ocean cuisine, and ocean dreams.

In particular, the lecture focuses on presenting the concept of a maritime capital not as a grandiose policy or industrial term, but as concrete changes and opportunities connected to the daily lives of citizens.

From the future of Busan opened up by new maritime routes to marine legal services, changes in advanced technology and marine industries, and stories of Busan’s food and people working at sea, the event explores the potential of Maritime Capital Busan from various perspectives.

The speakers will introduce the present and future of Maritime Capital Busan based on their respective professional knowledge and field experience.

The first speaker, science creator 'Hangseong,' will lecture on the Arctic Route. They will explain at the citizens' eye level how the new maritime route opened by changes in the Arctic connects to Busan's future and what opportunities may arise for the city.

The second speaker, Professor Kim In-hyun of Korea University School of Law, will highlight the importance of marine legal services and Busan's role, focusing on the Maritime Court. He will introduce the process by which legal services resolving various disputes occurring at sea lead to a city's trust and competitiveness.

The third speaker, Kim Yong-dae, CEO of Marine Works, will discuss the changes that artificial intelligence and advanced technology will bring to the marine industry. He plans to examine newly emerging jobs and opportunities alongside changes in the marine industry field.

The fourth speaker, food columnist Park Sang-hyun, will introduce the value of the food embraced by Busan's sea. Drawing on his own experience, he will convey the potential of Busan's marine products and resources—famously encountered at the dinner table—to expand into new industries and the global market.

The final speaker, Captain Kim Seung-joo, will share stories of dreams and challenges discovered while making the sea a workplace. Through direct experiences at sea, he will convey the meaning the sea holds as both a foundation for life and a stage for challenge.

Any interested citizen can participate for free. Applications can be submitted on the official SEBAST Land website (www.sebasiland.com) until the start of the event on October 29.

Specific application periods and selection methods will be announced through the official SEBAST Land website. Registration may close early if the number of applicants is high.

Mayor Jeon Jae-soo stated, "This lecture is an opportunity to explore together the infinite potential held by the sea and share the future of the maritime capital that Busan is heading toward with its citizens," adding, "I hope it will be a meaningful time to rediscover the marine, historical, and cultural values of Busan with experts from various fields and share the vision of Maritime Capital Busan."
