NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Peru's Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) has announced that Turkish Airlines has confirmed its plans to begin operations in Peru in the first half of 2025. The announcement came during Mincetur's participation in Routes Americas 2025, a leading international aviation conference taking place in Nassau, Bahamas.
Routes Americas 2025 brings together key players in the aviation industry, including airline and airport representatives, tourism authorities, and aviation professionals. This year's event boasts over 1,000 attendees, representing more than 85 of the region's top airlines.
Along with Mincetur, Peru is represented at the event by Promperú (the Peruvian Tourism Board), Lima Airport Partners (LAP), and Aeropuertos del Perú (AdP), underscoring the nation's commitment to expanding its air connectivity.
Madeleine Burns, Vice Minister of Tourism for Peru, emphasized the importance of Peru's presence at Routes Americas. She stated that the delegation's goal is to strengthen Peru's image as a premier international tourist destination. This will be achieved by promoting strategic alliances with global airlines, exploring new destinations, and stimulating inbound tourism. The arrival of Turkish Airlines is seen as a significant step in achieving these objectives.
The new route is expected to boost tourism and trade between Peru and Turkey, as well as offer increased connectivity to other destinations within Turkish Airlines' extensive network, particularly across Europe and Asia. It is anticipated that this will create new opportunities for both business and leisure travelers, contributing to Peru's economic growth and tourism sector development. Further details regarding the specific route, frequency of flights, and aircraft type are expected to be released closer to the launch date.
