Krafton to Offer Up to 100 Million Won in Childbirth Incentives

Krafton, the leading game company in South Korea by market capitalization, has announced a new policy to provide employees who have children with up to 100 million won in childbirth incentives.

According to the game industry on the 17th, Krafton recently shared a policy with its employees that it will pay 60 million won in a lump sum to employees who give birth to children, and then pay 5 million won annually for the next 8 years, for a total of 100 million won.

This unprecedented welfare benefit is reportedly led by Krafton founder Chang Byung-gyu, who served as the chairman of the 4th Industrial Revolution Committee. Krafton plans to finalize the specific payment method and announce it internally soon.

Krafton recorded 2.798 trillion won in sales and 1.1825 trillion won in operating profit last year, achieving the best performance since its foundation. It is evaluated that the company, which has the highest operating profit among listed game companies, has rolled up its sleeves to create a corporate environment where work and family can be balanced based on its solid performance.

In fact, it has been shown that large-scale childbirth incentives from companies have an effect on the birth rate. This can be seen from the case of Booyoung Group, which introduced a policy last year to pay 100 million won per child for the first time in Korea.

At the 2025 New Year's ceremony held at its headquarters in Tae-pyeongno 2-ga, Jung-gu, Seoul on the 5th, Booyoung Group announced that it had paid a total of 2.8 billion won in childbirth incentives to employees who gave birth last year. Twenty-eight children were born to employees last year, which is an increase of 5 (21.7%) from the average of 23 births over the three years from 2021 to 2023.

Booyoung Group has given a total of 7 billion won to 70 employees who gave birth between 2021 and 2023, 100 million won each. As a result, the accumulated payment is 9.8 billion won.

After the New Year's ceremony this year, Booyoung Group Chairman Lee Joong-geun met with reporters and said about the meaning of the childbirth incentive, "We are trying to be a priming water." "Like the national debt repayment movement and the gold gathering campaign, I hope that many companies will voluntarily support childbirth in the future, creating a butterfly effect."
