As the construction of Paraguay's Corredor Norte highway (el Corredor Norte) nears completion, the installation of road signs on the Belen and Concepcion sections is progressing smoothly. The signage installation work in Zone 3 (Horqueta-Concepcion), carried out by Akarai S.A., has currently completed 18.1km in specific sections, and pre-marking and installation work is continuing in downtown Concepcion.
This project is a large-scale undertaking to construct approximately 150km of asphalt-paved roads across the San Pedro and Concepcion regions. Upon completion, it is expected to directly benefit over 400,000 residents and significantly boost the region's social and economic development.
The 'Improvement of Physical Connectivity in the San Pedro Region' project is being carried out in a total of three zones and is being funded through the Mercosur Structural Convergence Fund (Focem) and domestic resources. The Paraguayan Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) is leading this project, aiming to improve mobility in the northern region and strengthen the growth of major cities such as San Pedro del Ycuamandiyu, Nueva Germania, Concepcion, Horqueta, and Belen.
Increased Logistics Efficiency: The new road network will reduce transportation time for agricultural products and other goods, contributing to the revitalization of the regional economy.
Improved Convenience of Local Resident Movement: Road improvements will enhance residents' mobility convenience, improving access to social services such as education and healthcare.
Tourism Industry Development: The improved road network will promote tourist attraction, positively impacting the development of the regional tourism industry.
Job Creation Effects: New jobs will be created during the road construction and maintenance process, injecting vitality into the regional employment market.
Ecuador Road Maintenance International Bidding: Not only in Paraguay, but also in Ecuador, international public bidding is underway for the maintenance of the E487 road. This shows that efforts to improve road infrastructure in the South American region are actively being pursued.
The Paraguay Corredor Norte highway project will become an important infrastructure that improves the quality of life of local residents and promotes economic development.
