Daejeon City and the Organizing Committee bolster cooperation in event operations, citizen engagement, and global promotion

DAEJEON — Daejeon Mayor Heo Tae-jung and Yeom Hong-chul, Chairman of the 2027 Chungcheong Summer World University Games Organizing Committee, held a strategic meeting at Daejeon City Hall on September 21 to solidify a robust cooperative framework for the upcoming international sporting event.

The meeting focused on establishing seamless coordination between local governments and the organizing body regarding efficient event operations and active civic participation.

During the meeting, Organizing Committee Chairman Yeom Hong-chul emphasized, "We will create a successful games by working hand-in-hand with the four cities and provinces of the Chungcheong region, including Daejeon."

Mayor Heo Tae-jung responded, "We will closely collaborate with the Organizing Committee to showcase Daejeon’s top-tier sports infrastructure alongside its unique urban charms encompassing science, culture, and tourism to a global audience."

Scheduled to bring together around 15,000 athletes and officials from about 150 countries, the 2027 Chungcheong Summer World University Games aims to be a festival of harmony and technological advancement, leveraging Daejeon's status as a leading science and technology hub in South Korea. Both leaders pledged continuous communication to ensure flawless preparation leading up to the mega-event.
