Chungcheongnam-do Province's Vice Governor for Political Affairs, Jeon Hyeong-sik, visited China for seven days from May 21 to 27 to strengthen friendly relations and cooperation with the provincial governments of Heilongjiang and Shandong, and to examine policies for fostering businesses.
This visit was initiated to expand future cooperation areas and discuss mutual growth, coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the sister-city relationship with Heilongjiang Province and the 30th anniversary of friendly exchanges with Shandong Province.
On the first day of his visit, May 21, he attended a trade fair in Harbin to assess the current status and potential of the Northeast Asian market in China. He also encouraged local businesses participating in the fair to explore new export avenues.
On the second day, May 22, he visited the Ahn Jung-geun Memorial Hall in the morning, reflecting on the independence activist's life and activities, and commemorating his achievements and spirit.
In the afternoon, he met with Heilongjiang Province Vice Governor Sui Hongbo to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their sister-city relationship, sharing past cooperation achievements and discussing ways to expand economic, trade, and urban exchanges.
From May 23-25, he traveled to Beijing to visit Zhongguancun, known as China's hub for startups. He inspected startup support facilities and talent incubation programs, seeking strategies for provincial startups to enter the global market.
Specifically, after touring startup support facilities in Zhongguancun, he presented Chungnam Province's startup ecosystem development strategy centered on the 'KAIST Mobility Research Institute' in Naepo New City and explored cooperation strategies with China.
He also visited 'Peking University Startup Training Camp,' a representative support center within Zhongguancun Startup Street, where he received explanations about China's startup support system from local startups and officials from the Korea Innovation Center (KIC China Center). They exchanged opinions on success strategies for resident companies and the entry of Chungnam Province's innovation and startup companies into Beijing.
For his final schedule on May 26-27, he officially participated as a panelist in the 'International Friendly Cities Cooperation Conference' held in Jinan City, Shandong Province, attending a VIP reception and official dinner hosted by Shandong Province Governor Zhou Naixiang.
Especially on the last day, May 27, he participated in the opening ceremony of the International Friendly Cities Cooperation Conference, directly presenting Chungnam Province's excellent industrial conditions and limitless future potential. He also proposed a mega cooperation project in the eco-friendly energy sector between the two entities for a new future cooperative relationship with Shandong Province.
Vice Governor Jeon stated, "This year is a significant year, marking the 10th anniversary of Chungnam Province's sister-city relationship with Heilongjiang Province and the 30th anniversary of friendly exchanges with Shandong Province. This trip was a meaningful time to reflect on past achievements and re-establish future cooperative relationships." He added, "We will continue to expand practical exchanges with Chinese local governments in various fields such as economy, environment, and energy to achieve tangible results that benefit our residents."
