Cheonan, South Korea – The Cheonan Sports Council for the Disabled (Chairman Park Sang-don) announced on April 2nd its successful selection for the Korea Paralympic Committee's (KPC) "Disabled Winter and Summer Leisure Sports Camp" grant program, securing 18 million KRW in national funding.
The KPC conducted a nationwide open call for proposals targeting 17 metropolitan and provincial sports councils for the disabled, as well as 158 city and district councils. Cheonan's council was among only six organizations selected for this prestigious initiative. Notably, the Cheonan Sports Council for the Disabled was the sole successful applicant among all city and district-level organizations across the country.
The secured national funding of 18 million KRW (approximately $[Insert Approximate USD Equivalent Here]) will be instrumental in organizing and operating inclusive leisure sports camps during both the winter and summer seasons. These camps are expected to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities in Cheonan to engage in a variety of adapted sports and recreational activities, promoting physical health, social interaction, and overall well-being.
Park Sang-don, Chairman of the Cheonan Sports Council for the Disabled, expressed his enthusiasm about the selection, stating, "This grant selection marks a significant step forward in revitalizing seasonal sports activities within Cheonan. We are committed to utilizing this funding to support diverse leisure opportunities for our citizens, enabling them to lead healthier and more vibrant lives."
While specific details regarding the planned activities and schedules for the winter and summer camps have yet to be released, the Cheonan Sports Council for the Disabled is expected to announce further information in the coming weeks. This initiative underscores the council's dedication to promoting inclusivity and accessibility in sports and recreation for individuals with disabilities in the Cheonan community.
