World number one An Se-young (Samsung Life Insurance) has secured her spot in the final of the 2025 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour Super 750 Japan Open women's singles by decisively defeating Gunji Riko (world number 32, Japan) in the semifinals. She once again demonstrated her overwhelming prowess, reaffirming her status as the "Shuttlecock Empress."

In the semifinal match held yesterday, July 19th, in Tokyo, Japan, An Se-young achieved a dominant 2-0 (21-12, 21-10) victory over Gunji. From the start, the match was entirely in An Se-young's favor. With sharp attacks and impenetrable defense, she neutralized Gunji's offense, easily taking the first set 21-12. In the second set, An Se-young maintained unwavering focus, winning 21-10 and concluding the match in just 35 minutes. In this tournament, Gunji Riko emerged as a "surprise sensation" and garnered significant attention.
