Korea Weather Forecast for February 23rd: Cold Snap and Snow in Some Regions

Seoul, South Korea - The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) has forecasted a cold snap across the country for Sunday, February 23rd, with temperatures plummeting to as low as -12 degrees Celsius in some areas. The strong winds are expected to make the weather feel even colder, prompting the KMA to issue a cold wave warning for several regions.
While the majority of the country will experience clear skies, some regions, particularly the Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces, as well as Jeju Island, are expected to see snow. The snowfall is predicted to begin in the early hours of the morning and continue throughout the day.

Chungnam Southern Coast: 1-5cm
Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, Chungbuk (Central and Southern): 1cm or less
Gwangju, Jeonnam Western, Jeonbuk Western Coast, Jeonbuk Southern Inland: 1-5cm
Jeju Island Mountains: 3-8cm
Jeju Island Mid-mountainous areas: 1-5cm
Jeju Island Coast: 1cm or less
Expected Rainfall:
Chungnam Southern Coast: 5mm or less
Daejeon, Sejong, Chungnam, Chungbuk (Central and Southern): 1mm or less
Gwangju, Jeonnam Western, Jeonbuk Western Coast, Jeonbuk Southern Inland: 5mm or less
Jeju Island: 5mm or less
The cold air mass from the northwest is expected to keep temperatures below average for the time being. The morning lows are expected to range from -12 to -2 degrees Celsius, while the daytime highs will be between -1 and 5 degrees Celsius.

The KMA has also issued a dry weather advisory for the Seoul metropolitan area, Gangwon Province, inland areas of Chungcheong Province, eastern Jeonnam Province, and Gyeongsang Province. The dry conditions are expected to persist for the time being, with the possibility of the advisory being expanded or strengthened.
Strong winds are also expected in the western coastal areas of Chungnam starting in the morning, and in the coastal areas of Jeolla Province starting in the afternoon, with wind speeds potentially reaching over 70km/h. The KMA is considering issuing a strong wind warning for these areas.
Air quality is expected to be "good" across the country due to the inflow of clean northwesterly winds.
