Cheonan City announced on the 2nd that the 10th Cheonan Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival, scheduled for April 5th and 6th, will be scaled down due to the nationwide wildfires.
Buk-myeon (Mayor Park Eui-yong) of Cheonan City and the Cheonan Buk-myeon Wirye Cherry Blossom Festival Promotion Committee (Chairman Jin Su-gon) stated that they decided on this measure to share the pain of the national situation and participate in the mourning atmosphere.
Accordingly, the pre-show performances, opening ceremony, and guest singer performances that were initially planned will be reduced. The opening event will include a moment of silence to mourn the victims of the wildfires.
In addition, they plan to raise and donate funds for the residents affected by the wildfires.
Chairman Jin Su-gon said, "We believe it is our duty to share the pain with the people who have suffered from the unprecedented large-scale wildfires." He added, "We will proceed with the festival in a calm atmosphere while comforting the victims of the wildfires."
