A new vitality is emerging in Paraguay's home appliance industry. On the 14th, local company Goldmund marked a significant milestone by successfully completing its first-ever export of electric fans to Argentina. This achievement, which benefited from the maquila regime, is being hailed as the fruit of the government's recently implemented policy to incentivize the assembly of electrical and electronic equipment.
The commemorative ceremony, hosted by the Paraguayan Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC), was held in the city of Luque and was attended by Undersecretary of Industry Marco Riquelme and Undersecretary of Investment and Export Promotion (Rediex) Javier Viveros. They emphasized the positive impact this export will have on the nation's economic development and commended the company's efforts.
Dante Do Sun Choi, the founder of Goldmund, expressed his gratitude, stating, "Thanks to the government's legal stability, we were able to invest $3 million to build our factory." He also announced that, in response to the newly unveiled incentive policy, the company is actively considering expanding its production facilities within Paraguay.
Goldmund, a key player in this export, manufactures home appliances under the Peabody brand. The company plans to export a total of 80,000 fans between September 2025 and January 2026, aiming for a revenue of approximately $5 million. The main export targets are South American markets like Argentina and Brazil, where the company plans to expand its business based on strong market demand and competitiveness.
Undersecretary Marco Riquelme pledged to "continue to implement effective policies that promote investment and create quality jobs." He added that the government would streamline administrative procedures for the private sector to further stimulate business activities. Undersecretary Javier Viveros expressed great pride, saying, "We are immensely proud that this is Paraguay's first fan factory." He emphasized that this case demonstrates the successful functioning of the government's investment attraction policies.
This export success is drawing more attention as it aligns with the "National Policy for the Production and Assembly of Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical, and Digital Equipment," which was enacted by President Santiago Peña. Approved on September 8th, "National Industry Day," this policy is one of three economic incentive bills aimed at developing Paraguay into a manufacturing and assembly hub for high-tech products like home appliances and smartphones. The bill is expected to provide tax exemptions on the import of raw materials and domestic purchases, as well as favorable conditions for the sale of final products, thereby enhancing corporate competitiveness while broadening public access to technological goods.
