Cheonan City announced on the 2nd that it will resume the purchase-based public rental housing project after 7 years, which had been suspended since 2018 due to difficulties in securing housing units.
The city will be recruiting preliminary residents for purchase-based public rental housing from the 7th to the 11th of this month in cooperation with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to stabilize housing for low-income residents.
Eligible applicants are household members who are homeless and are recipients of basic living and medical benefits, protected individuals, and single-parent families.
The housing units for supply are existing houses located in urban areas such as Sinbang-dong and Dujeong-dong, and include ▲Type 1 for households of 2 or fewer people (exclusive area of 50㎡ or less), and ▲Type 2 for households of 3 to 4 people (exclusive area exceeding 50㎡ and up to 85㎡). A total of 130 units will be supplied.
The lease deposit and monthly rent are approximately 30% of the market price for a "jeonse" (lump-sum deposit) lease. Specific lease terms will be individually notified during the contract 안내 (guidance) after resident selection.
Applicants can apply through the community center (Eup, Myeon, Dong Administrative Welfare Center) in their place of residence.
The city expects that the supply of purchase-based public rental housing will greatly contribute to the housing stability and reduction of housing costs for vulnerable groups.
Yoon Eun-mi, Director of the Welfare Policy Bureau, said, "We hope that the purchase-based public rental housing units, secured after a long period of effort, will help provide a stable living environment for vulnerable groups. We will do our best to realize sustainable housing welfare policies for Cheonan City, which is approaching a population of 700,000."
