Chungnam Province develops and utilizes agricultural business support systems using generative AI

Chungnam Province has introduced a new administrative innovation in which public officials design and develop business support systems directly using generative intelligence (AI).

The province's Agriculture and Livestock Bureau announced on the 28th that it has independently developed and is actively utilizing two systems in actual operations: the 'Agricultural Disaster Integrated Control System (AgriBoard)', which supports agricultural disaster tasks, and the 'Agricultural Product Supply & Price Integrated Monitoring System (AgriMarket)', which provides integrated information on agricultural product prices and distribution.

This case is significant in that, departing from the conventional method of commissioning professional development companies, frontline public officials directly designed the systems needed for their work and implemented them using generative AI.

Frontline public officials developed the systems using a "Vibe Coding" approach—directly designing the required functions, screens, and data configurations for their tasks, and then using generative AI to write programs and fix errors.

In particular, rather than simply using the programs generated by generative AI as-is, they continuously improved functions and screens based on criteria such as whether the functions were actually necessary for operations, whether the personnel in charge could use them easily, and whether necessary information could be viewed on a single screen.

Through this, systems that started from mere ideas were built into independent business support systems capable of supporting actual operations and are currently being utilized in the field.

Starting with this system development, the Agriculture and Livestock Bureau plans to expand step-by-step to include a system providing rural living service information (AgriService) and a system managing and monitoring livestock product supply and prices (AgriLivestock).

"This system establishment is significant in that it goes beyond utilizing AI for document drafting or image production, demonstrating how it can be used as a tool to make work easier and more efficient," said Lee Seung-han, Director-General of the Agriculture and Livestock Bureau of the province. "We will continue to integrate AI into overall working methods to enhance administrative efficiency."
